Pleasant Valley Farms
It’s been a while since I’ve posted here - I’ve been a little busy moving, nesting, and entering the world of parenthood since the arrival of my son back in July. The travel budget has been a little low lately, but thankfully some experiences are still free. Like the one we had last weekend at Pleasant Valley Farms in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
We don’t get out of the house much these days. As any newborn parent knows, it’s a lot of work to go anywhere. But we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take our first fall photos as a full sized family.
Pleasant Valley Farms offers free entry to its pumpkin patch, which is full of cute photo opportunities and family-friendly activities. My in-laws graciously tagged along to help us take photos and to spend a little time with Jordan.
This unique Sand Springs agritourism attraction has been delighting Green Country families since 1999 with a host of fun fall activities like hay rides, a kiddie maze, barnyard animals, duck races, pumpkin tic-tac-toe, slides, a cow train, mini golf, a giant sandbox, a playground, and more, in addition to the countless photo opportunities. There’s also an awesome 15-acre hay maze that I did several years ago and enjoyed, but of course we weren’t about to wander around that with a fussy infant.
Pleasant Valley Farms is also a popular Christmas tree farm with imported Firs and homegrown Virginia Pine trees that you can even cut down yourself. We’re looking forward to bringing Jordan back in December when Santa visits on Saturdays and Sundays. Apparently they’ll have a whole bunch of Christmas themed photo opportunities, hayrides, and other holiday activities.
Pleasant Valley Farms is available for birthday parties, company picnics, family reunions, and photography sessions year-round. Of course it’s free to wander around and take your own photos, but professionals do have to purchase permits. They even have RV and tent camping available on site.
I love traveling to new places, but I even more so love exploring and spending time in my home town. Sand Springs has a lot to offer if you know where to look.
