Who to Follow on TikTok
I resisted TikTok for a long time. Call me a Boomer, but I was very much of a “those dang kids today with their TikTok dances” mindset. But when I began doing social media management professionally, I knew I had to make the leap.
I was pleasantly surprised. Of course, there are still plenty of annoying and juvenile trends on the app, but it’s also filled with niched content creators who offer a lot of value in different fields.
Here are my top ten TikTok creators who fuse inspiration, education, and entertainment related to my personal hobbies and interests:
A Couple of Hikers
I don’t even know their names, but this engaged duo is currently in the middle of a 2650-mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada.
I’m not a super experienced hiker so I have to confess that I didn’t even know the PCT was a thing. As soon as they came across my For You page I was immediately expired to put the PCT on my bucket list and I’m enjoying every step of their journey.
Their videos are beautiful, educational, and, most importantly, honest.
Quin Gable
Somewhere in a parallel universe there’s a version of me living Quin’s life. She travels the world in a van with two leash-trained cats she takes hiking in the mountains. That’s pretty much everything I’ve ever dreamed of. I have two cats and I love to hike, I’m getting very tired of home maintenance already so fingers crossed I can one day talk my fiancée into fulltime traveling.
Notwaitingtolive
Emmanuel “Manny” Forge brands himself with the tag “notwaitingtolive” which is a motto I’ve recently determined to apply to my life. Definitely one of the most accomplished travelers I know - Manny has already hiked the PCT and bicycled across America, and now he’s currently kayaking the Mississippi River from source to sea. In addition to his TikTok account, he also maintains a blog.
Brooke Bellendir
Brooke is a Mannford girl who has built her brand as the definitive Oklahoma tour guide. Her channel is all about showing off Oklahoma nightlife, restaurants, resorts, etc. As a fellow proud Oklahoman, I love using her channel to discover Oklahoma and find new places to branch out.
Scott Emigh
Alright, you caught me. Shameless plug here. All the great content you read here on my site can also be found on my new TikTok account and then some. My page mostly focuses on #DiscoverOklahoma type content, with the occasional out-of-state trip and a splash of my garden life. I know, I know. I really should be more niched down, but I can’t help but show off my garden from time to time.
